Apple's latest camera sensor takes great video. Seriously.
Wondering how the technical improvements to the iPhone 4S camera impact real-world usage? Prepare to be impressed. A comparison of the iPhone 4S shooting 1080p video alongside a Canon 5D MKII, which costs about $2400 without a lens, reveals that Apple's latest smartphone has some serious filming chops.
Robino Films mounted the two cameras together for simultaneous shooting and put them to the test. While the 5D offers slightly more accurate color, the iPhone 4S comes out lookin' mighty good.
Obviously the the 5D offers advantages that aren't immediately visible in this comparison. Images will look less pixelated thanks to its 21.1MP sensor, it has more extensive shooting options and the added flexibility of camera lenses. But if you're just shooting home videos and birthday parties, it makes sense to spend a couple hundred bucks on an iPhone 4S and save the other $2200 for a really awesome cake.
